Deduplication solutions 'can bring enormous savings'

Deduplication solutions have been recommended to businesses making the switch to cloud computing services.
According to an article on eWeek.com, one of the biggest mistakes that organisations can make when moving data to the cloud is not utilising bandwidth in the most efficient manner possible.
It added that deduplication solutions can ensure that this is not a problem for companies.
"Data deduplication and compression maximise bandwidth," it was stated.
"Enormous savings can be achieved by combining these techniques."
According to a recent survey from IDC, 76 per cent of enterprises are intending to use deduplication solutions at some point in 2010, with many already involved in the process of applying the technology to their data.
Laura DuBois, a program director at IDC, told Channel Insider that the results of the research also revealed that as many small enterprises wanted to use the service as their larger competitors.
She added that different variations of deduplication are available depending on the size of an organisation.
