Software-as-a-service BI 'can satisfy IT and business users'

According to Information Management columnist Brad Peters, there is a reoccurring tension between IT departments and the rest of their organisations when it comes to data management
He said that while IT teams want control and centralisation, business users want flexibility and agility.
Mr Peters stated that the solution to this may be found with software-as-a-service
"New methods give users access to powerful business visualisation and reporting, while satisfying IT's need for security and control," he said.
According to the commentator, the solution contains components such as data warehousing and analysis, while business users are given a good level of visibility and insight.
Earlier this month, SAP's regional vice president Simon Dale told Reseller News that the software-as-a-service
He forecast that more companies in the regions will begin to realise the potential benefits of the technology.
