Software-as-a-service demand 'driven by financial benefits'
Mar 9 2010, 21:23 PM
Software-as-a-service offerings are experiencing a surge in demand from companies looking to cut costs while improving standards of organisation within their enterprise, an expert has said.
Recent research from IT recruitment company Resource on Demand has revealed that demand for software-as-a-service specialists increased by 233 per cent in January 2010.
Rolf von Roessing, international vice-president for the Information Systems Audit Control Association, told Market Scan that the figures showed software-as-a-service solutions are being considered by more and more companies.
"The financial and organisational benefits of switching to cloud-based storage and systems are clearly driving this surge in demand," he said.
Mr von Roessing added that it was important companies considering the use of software-as-a-service took their time in choosing a trusted vendor due to the security implications inherent in such a move.
Last month, Liz Herbert, a senior analyst at industry research company Forrester, told the Economic Times that it is important for organisations to turn to professional experts when adopting software-as-a-service applications.
