Gershon Report
The Gershon Report details ways in which the Australian government can improve ICT governance and increase efficiencies of ICT operations.
Prepared by Sir Peter Gershon this report details his independent review of the Australian Government's use of information and communication technology (ICT).
The report provides a very comprehensive analysis of a wide range of issues affecting the Governments use and management of ICT and also outlines a staged plan to implement his recommendations.
Information and communication technology (ICT) in the Australian Government (the Government) operates within a broad context and hence must take into account key macro national and global trends. These trends include:
- growing expectations among citizens and business for the quality of services delivered by governments
- increasing concerns about climate change
- public sector funding pressures
- technology trends
- globalisation
- ICT workforce challenges.
These trends will continue to have an increasing influence on the application, delivery, cost and demand for ICT services. They should therefore be considered in order to develop an enduring whole-of-government strategy.
